Actually , I was further back than it appears - with a 300 mm lens plus 2x teleconverter ( the equivalent of a 600 mm lens ).NEVER STAND CLOSE! On a recent visit to Yellowstone , a buffalo walking nearby turned its head suddenly & used his horns to (loudly) butt the side of a nearby passenger car very hard.
